New app promises to help you get your closets organized

NEW YORK (WABC) -- There's a new way to get the most from your closet. It's an app which will even tell you what to wear.

You give it your location and all your clothes, and every morning you get three outfit ideas based on the weather.

"ClosetSpace really helps you see outfits within your closets so you can get more use out of the clothes that you own," said Annie Wazer of ClosetSpace.

That is the idea. But to get there you must take a picture of everything, every shirt, dress, bracelet and shoe you own.

Then upload it all to the ClosetSpace app, which is free and one of a few apps that promise to get you organized.

"We have daily outfit recommendations that are personalized for every single user, by the weather, the temperature and their style preferences," said Annie.

"Especially in New York, look at the size of my closet, so it's helpful to me to know what I actually have in here," said homeowner Sarah Malone.

Sarah says having ClosetSpace on her phone, with a picture of everything she owns makes her life so easy, since she travels every week for work.

Plus she needs date clothes and fun ideas for weekends. She insists the few hours it takes to photograph everything and get it in the phone is worth it.

"I can plan out my outfits ahead of time and I can actually make use of more clothes in my closet," said Sarah.

Hundreds of thousands of people are out there using these closet apps, but it is not for everyone.

"Would you want to take pictures of everything you own?," we asked one woman. "No, it sounds like a hassle to me," she said.

And most closet organizers will tell you, just know, throw and go.

Know what you have, throw out or give away what you don't use, and go shopping to fill the gaps.
