QUEENS, New York - Spectrum customers in central Queens are once again facing service outages on Tuesday after vandals damaged fiber optic cables for the second time in as many weeks.
Charter Communications, which owns Spectrum, said crews are currently working to make repairs to the cables after more than 20,000 customers lost service.
"Our crews are on site and working to repair fiber optic cables damaged by vandalism, which is affecting TV, internet and phone services for Spectrum customers in central Queens," said Charter spokesperson John Bonomo. "We appreciate our customers' patience while we restore service as quickly as possible."
Vandals had previously cut fiber optic cables at four major hubs in Queens on June 26th, which knocked out TV, internet, and phone service for most of the day for approximately 60,000 customers.
There is no timetable for when service will be restored.
