NEW YORK - A wind advisory is in effect for Monday for the New York area, with strong gusts expected throughout the day.
Meteorologist Bill Evans says the high temperature will reach 43, but the wind chills will make it feel more like the 20's and 30's.
Gusts could reach up to 40 or 50 miles an hour during the day, equivalent to tropical storm winds.
The wind advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Monday.
The high winds brought down trees overnight in Centereach, Suffolk County.
There are also delays of up to two hours for flights arriving at LaGuardia Airport due to the winds.
