Cops ID men wanted in bodega robberies

Rafael Vargas and Christopher Ortiz allegedly hit 7 bodegas
Eyewitness News reporter Tim Fleischer is live Claremont with more.

The manhunt for those two suspects is heating up after a bodega was robbed again, and six others recently robbed in the Bronx.

Police have now put names to faces and identified the suspect.

At Mariana's Beauty & Barber Shop, they've seen one of two suspects.

Police now have identified, 19-year-old Rafael Vargas and 21-year-old Christopher Ortiz. Both men are wanted in a string of store robberies in the Bronx-- 7 all together. Sometimes two bodegas are hit in one day, about two hours apart.

This man was robbed.

"I don't want to be here, they're still out there. I don't know if they are going to be back or not," bodega owner Juan Amoazar says.

In the latest one, a 24-year old store employee was shot three times here at this store.

In this surveillance tape the two men enter the stores brandishing weapons, police say. One then cleans out the cash register and the other hits the customers.

The camera does not seem to bother the suspects.

"They look at the cameras, no mask no nothing. They just pull out the gun and say, 'give me all you got'..," Amoazar said.

The young man who was injured in the bodega robbery caught on surveillance video remains in critical condition.
