Planes to be equipped with anti-missile device

The plane you fly on may soon be outfitted with an anti-missile device. Three American Airlines jets that fly between New York and California will get the special laser jammers this spring.

They work by detecting and shooting down shoulder-fired missiles.

The anti-missile devices are part of a government test program and will cost up to a million dollars per plane.

And not to worry -- no missiles will be fired at planes during the testing.
