Planes to be equipped with anti-missile device

NEW YORK Three American Airlines jets that fly between New York and California will get the special laser jammers this spring.

They work by detecting and shooting down shoulder-fired missiles.

The anti-missile devices are part of a government test program and will cost up to a million dollars per plane.

And not to worry -- no missiles will be fired at planes during the testing.
