Cop injured in the Bronx

NEW YORK Authorities say the officer was hurt near 80 West Kingsbridge Road just after 11:30 a.m.

The officer reportedly sustained lacerations to the arm when he was dragged by a car. Officials say the incident happened during a traffic stop.

The officer was conscious and alert upon arrival at Jacobi Medical Center.

Police say the suspect, a 24-year-old man, was shot twice in the leg. He was taken to St. Barnabus Hospital.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting, which apparently started when the suspect hit the gas instead of getting out of the car, as police directed him to.

Witnesses say the officer shattered the driver's side window with his elbow while the car was still in motion.

Police say the suspect was carrying multiple IDs with various names. They say he also may be wanted for a parole violation in Pennsylvania.
