Spinning for Teens

Spinning, or riding a bike going nowhere fast, has become an enormously popular way to exercise. But you do burn a lot of calories -- and now there's a spinning facility that caters to teens and tweens.

And what a great way to get kids off the couch! They can do this in any kind of weather and because they do it with their friends and spin to music they love they don't seem to even notice the workout.

It's off with the clogs and into those spin shoes and onto the bike.

The socializing settles down and these tweens and teens get ready to ride.

Laurie Cole is at the helm of the class we visited -- one of three offered every week for the younger indoor cyclists at 'Soul Cycle.'

And teens are taking to it. They're guided through moves that work better for their smaller frames and they request the music ahead of time, which leads to a karaoke-like environment.

Me, on the other hand, I barely keep up. And sometimes parents spin with their kids. The kids enthusiasm and smiles get their parents going.

But the class is really about the kids. For those involved in team sports,it helps build strength and stamina.

And for others who may not be great at soccer or softball, spinning is a great outlet.

But while I end up exhausted, the teens end up cheering for more.
