Islanders 3, Senators 1

OTTAWA The game was tied 1-1 until Bergeron and Mike Comrie scored 1:40 apart early in the third period. Rick DiPietro preserved the victory by making nine of his 31 saves in the final period.

Comrie also had an assist as the Islanders finished 2-1-and-2 on a five-game winning streak that ended with back-to-back wins at Calgary and Ottawa.

Daniel Alfredsson had a power-play goal for the Senators, who finished the game without Jason Spezza. A team spokesman said Spezza was held out for precautionary reasons after he was flattened by Freddy Mayer on an open-ice hit.
