Teen sexually assaulted on way to school

Suffolk County police are investigating a possible sexual assault in Mastic Beach. Authorities say the incident happened adjacent to a wooded area on Mastic Road and Lincoln Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say a 17-year-old female reported that while walking to William Floyd High School, she was accosted by an unknown white male as she was cutting through the property.

Authorities say the suspect grabbed her as she was walking along the tree line, pushed her to the ground and began to forcibly fondle her.

The victim reportedly fought with the attacker until he fled south on Mastic Road. She was able to return home and contact police. She was subsequently treated and released at an area hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early 20s with short, dark hair. He is approximately 5-foot-2, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black boots. He was last seen fleeing on foot south on Mastic Road.
