Stripper couple accused of sex abuse

QUEENS Queens District Attorney Richard Brown announced the charges Monday.

Authorities say the charges stem from incidents with two teenage girls under the age of 15 on multiple occasions during a six-month period between 2006-2007.

In one instance, it is alleged that the couple took the two girls - whom they met through MySpace.com - to a Manhattan strip club where they were brought on stage to perform a strip and sex act before allowing several club patrons to have oral sex with them.

"The defendants are accused of using the Internet to lure two obviously troubled young girls to their apartment where they were plied with liquor before being used to satisfy the defendants' own illicit carnal cravings," Brown said. "The consequences of the alleged sexual assaults for the victims are profound and can well result in emotional trauma from which they may never recover."

Brown identified the defendants as 31-year-old Julio Rojas and 22-year-old Sophie Soto, of 46-20 104th Street in Queens.

They are charged on a 56-count criminal complaint, which includes two counts each of use of a child in a sexual performance and conspiracy and 14 counts each of rape and criminal sexual act.

Bail was set at $500,000 for Rojas and $250,000 for Soto. They face up to 15 years in prison, if convicted.

District Attorney Brown said that the case came to light when the girls informed their parents and went to authorities.
