"Systematic problems" at jail where inmates escaped

Prosecutor reveals findings in investigation
ELIZABETH, NJ Among other revelations, Theodore Romankow said Monday that the cells of Otis Blunt and Jose Espinosa hadn't been searched for more than two months before the December 14 escape.

Two corrections officers and three sergeants at the jail now face administrative charges and may be fired.

Blunt and Espinosa squeezed through a hole they had dug through a cinder block cell wall.

Authorities say they had hidden the hole simply by covering it with a pinup photo, a ploy similar to one depicted in the movie "The Shawshank Redemption."

The two have since been caught.
