Police say four birds stolen from a Long Island pet shop have been recovered and are in good condition. The man responsible for the theft has also been arrested.Nassau County police said the man stole the sun conures, a member of the parrot family, by stuffing them into his jacket pocket last weekend in Mineola. A white cockatiel also was taken.

Police were concerned the birds - about seven weeks old - were in danger of dying because of fragile digestive tracts. But they said all four have been returned to the owner and appear to be fine.

The four birds were valued at $1,500.
