A worker at the main New Jersey office for the State Farm insurance company died yesterday of bacterial meningitis. The unidentified female employee of State Farm Insurance at 300 Kimball Drive in Parsippany, N.J., recently came down with the symptoms.

The company was notified late Wednesday that the female employee had been hospitalized, and found out yesterday that she had died.

Health officials held meetings with employees yesterday, advising them to wash their hands and take other precautions.

None of the employees showed signs of being infected.

Employees were advised to talk to their own physicians if they were concerned.

Grief counselors were also brought to the office to talk to co-workers.

Some 900 employees work at the facility, which is the main State Farm office for New Jersey.

The office is open for business, which company officials said is within CDC guidelines.
