Five handicapped students were reportedly on board when the bus overturned. Three adults also suffered minor injuries.
Officials say the students were strapped in at the time of the crash.
All the students were transported to the hospital, as were the driver of the bus and the other vehicle. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
Hempstead Turnpike was closed in both directions as authorities investigated the crash.
