Men airlifted to hospital

NEW YORK The Coast Guard says the men were airlifted Wednesday morning to Long Island-MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. Their conditions were not immediately known.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman says the men radioed that their 38-foot fishing boat called "Green Eyes," was "taking on water" 12 miles off Fire Island Inlet.

The Coast Guard says the severe conditions in the Atlantic Ocean off Fire Island at this time of year made the situation more serious.
