Car falls off parking garage, one dead

Police say weather to blame for accident
LONG ISLAND One person was killed and another was injured when their SUV plunged three stories off a parking garage on Marcus Avenue.

Police say a sheet of ice is to blame.

The female victim was dropping her husband off at work at a construction site when the vehicle apparently slid on ice over the edge.

The pit the vehicle fell in is part of a parking garage that is being built.

Cops say it appears the woman lost control of the vehicle.

"The vehicle went to the edge of the parking area and went over the top, about three stories, and landed on its roof," Nassau Sergeant Tony Repalone said. "The male passenger was able to get out before the vehicle went over, landed on its roof, but the female victim was crushed."

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
