Eyewitness News is told the van stopped, but the victim may have been hit by a second car that left the scene. There was no immedate description of the second vehicle.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was described by police as Hispanic in her 20s or 30s.
Market Street was closed between Route 21 and Alling Street for the investigation.
