Zach Parise's 25th goal snapped a third-period tie and gave New Jersey its first win of the season against the Islanders. Brian Gionta stretched the lead to two goals 2:13 later for the Devils, who ended a six-game skid against New York and ended the Islanders' six-game winning streak.

Martin Brodeur made 19 saves and earned his NHL-leading 34th win. Patrik Elias and John Madden scored in the first period for New Jersey, which has won four straight.

Josef Vasicek and Ruslan Fedotenko had goals for the Islanders.
