Judge: Rapper Ja Rule can't post pals' bails

NEW YORK State Supreme Court Justice Micki Scherer said Wednesday that Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, "put himself in the position of perhaps controlling the outcome of the case. I think the potential for it is a big problem."

Stacey Richman, Ja Rule's lawyer, said the defense will come up with separate bail packages for co-defendants Dennis Cherry and Mohamed Gamal.

Scherer also said she will rule next month on whether the defendants have to give DNA samples. The prosecutor said DNA evidence was found on the gun.
