Woman rescued from fire in Island Park house

A 95-year-old woman was rescued from a fierce fire that burned through her Island Park house Friday morning. According to officials, the elderly woman was pulled from the house at 166 Suffolk Avenue by three firefighters.

Flames broke out inside the home just after 7:30 a.m.

The firefighters rushed in and pulled the elderly resident to safety. She was taken to a nearby hospital with burns that were described as serious.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
