Tie-up up on Van Wyck Expressway

QUEENS Officials say the crashes in the northbound lanes, at Jewel Avenue, closed the highway for an hour just before 10:30 a.m.

The left lane was open at around 11:45 a.m., and traffic started slowly moving through the area.

Police say a large amount of fuel spilled onto the roadway during the crashes caused DOT crews to close the lanes for cleanup.

No serious injuries were reported in the crashes, which are under investigation.
