2 killed as car slams into train-track stanchion in Brooklyn
BROOKLYN Police say an out-of-control car has smashed into a subway-system pillar in Brooklyn, killing two people and injuring two others.

The crash happened early Sunday on Atlantic Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area. Two passengers died at the crash site, 25-year-old Naquana Kilpatrick and 17-year-old Gilberto Howard.

The 19-year-old man who was driving is hospitalized in critical condition.

A third female passenger is in stable condition. They were not identified.

It's not clear why the car spun out of control.

It slammed into a stanchion under an elevated train track at Atlantic and Buffalo avenues around 12:30 a.m.

Police say the subway system wasn't affected.
