An elderly woman was seriously injured in an apartment fire in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx that may have been set. Eyewitness News is told the 71-year-old victim was found unconscious in the blaze on the fourth floor of 169 Cypress Avenue just before 2:15 a.m. this morning.

She sustained smoke inhalation and was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in serious condition, officials say.

Fire marshals were investigating whether the blaze was deliberately set. Police had responded to the apartment on a report of a dispute before the fire started.

No charges were immediately filed.
