Two separate accidents in the city

One of the victim's legs were severed
NEW YORK EMS says tells us that just after 10:30 a.m. they were called to East Gun Hill Road and Jerome Ave and found the victim with her legs severed from the impact.

Emergency workers rushed the woman to St Barnabus Hospital and the victim's condition is critical.

Police say the vehicle involved was an 18-wheeler, but the driver has not been identified.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was injured in Manhattan this morning when a light pole suddenly crashed onto a sidewalk.

Newscopter Seven was over the scene -- just after 10 a-m -- at the intersection of 27th Street and Park Avenue.

The precise circumstances of the accident are still unclear.

Police say the pole may not have toppled over -- rather, it may have fallen off a passing truck.

The pedestrian was taken to Bellevue hospital with unspecified injuries.
