Gunfire startles hotel guests in Hicksville

Guests were frightened out of their beds by gunfire at a hotel in Hicksville, after a dispute became heated at a lounge next door.One man wounded and bystanders were sent scrambling for cover.

Nassau County police say two people have been arrested after the mayhem around 2:30 a.m. Friday outside the Days Inn on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville. Police say the victim was shot in the arm.

A Days Inn front desk clerk happened to be standing outside when two men were thrown out of the lounge. According to the clerk, first bottles were thrown, then he heard gunshots. After that, he ran into the hotel and ducked while calling 911.

Officials say no hotel guests or staffers were hurt.

A man who answered the lounge's phone said he had no information about the incident.
