Toll hikes for Verrazano, other city spans

Starting Sunday, March 16th at 3 a.m., the Verrazano Bridge is going make you dig deeper in your pockets.The cash toll will rise from $9 to $10 on the bridge, but Staten Island residents and E-ZPass tagholders will get a break.

The one-way, Staten Island-bound E-ZPass toll will rise from $8 to $8.30, and the Staten Island Resident E-ZPass toll will rise to $4.98. The Staten Island Resident Carpool discount will be $2.33.

Car tolls for cash customers will go from $4.50 to $5.00 on the Triborough Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge and the Queens Midtown and Brooklyn-Battery Tunnels. E-ZPass customers on these crossings will pay only $4.15.

Crossing the Henry Hudson Bridge will cost $2.75 for cash customers and $1.90 for E-ZPass tag holders.

Cash customers on the Marine Parkway and Cross Bay Bridges will pay $2.50 starting Sunday, while E-ZPass customers pay $1.55.

Nearly 75 percent of MTA Bridges and Tunnels use E-ZPass to pay their tolls.

Truck tolls will also change Sunday. For example: two-axle truck tolls will go from $9.00 to $10.00 for cash customers on the Triborough, Bronx-Whitestone, Throgs Neck Bridges and the Queens Midtown and Brooklyn-Battery Tunnels; from $4.50 to $5.00 on the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial and Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridges; and from 18.00 to $20.00 roundtrip on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. E-ZPass tolls will also increase and continue to provide discounts for customers.
