Manhattan's Cabrini Medical Center is closing Monday -- after serving the city for 100 years. The 474-bed hospital is just one of several that had been recommended by a state commission for closure as part of a plan to consolidate the state's health system.

The Gramercy Park hospital had lost its fight to stop the shut-down. A state Health Department spokeswoman says it's difficult for hospitals like Cabrini to remain financially viable.

The hospital closes permanently at a minute after midnight tomorrow.
