Officials: LI man died from meningitis

Identify man has Levittown resident
LONG ISLAND Nassau County health officials said Monday that the Levittown resident worked as a machine mechanic at Kozy Shack Enterprises - a pudding factory - in Hicksville. He died Saturday after not feeling well for several days.

Health officials emphasized there was no danger that food products may have been tainted. They noted the disease is spread only through close contact of bodily fluids.

On Friday, an 18-year-old SUNY-Oswego college student from Westbury died of bacterial meningitis. Those deaths, as well as two others in the area earlier this year, are not believed to be related.
