Join Body Sculpt of New York and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz at the "First Brooklyn Children's Sports and Fitness Expo" on April 5. Obesity is on the rise, particularly among children and teens. Overweight children can become overweight adults due to lack of physical exercise and unhealthy eating patterns. Tat's why it's time for Brooklyn kids to "Get Ready, Get Set, Get Fit."

The first-ever Brooklyn Sports and Fitness Expo will introduce more than 25 sports activities, nutrition classes, health screenings and entertainment, all in an effort to encourage children and their parents to choose healthier lifestyles.

On Saturday April 5, 2008, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, hundreds of school-age children have an opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports clinics ranging from archery, golf, fencing, hula hoop, gymnastics, wrestling and dance along with health tests, screenings, seminars and demonstrations - all free of charge. As an added bonus to the day their will be celebrity guest appearances and surprise performances.

Partners and sponsors for the first Brooklyn Children's Sports and Fitness Expo include: WABC-TV; Forest City Ratner Companies; New York City Sports Commission; AmeriGroup Community Care; United Federation of Teachers (UFT); Greater Southern Brooklyn Health Coalition; Emmis Communications; News 12 Brooklyn; Radio Disney, Brooklyn Family, V.I.M, City of New York Parks and Recreation, 1199 SEIU, and DC37.
