Police seize 1.5 lbs of crack in traffic stop

Valued over $200,000.
LONG ISLAND Police say two men were arrested for drug possession after they were pulled over in North Bellport at about 8:10 p.m. yesterday for ignoring a stop sign at the intersection of Sherger and Brookhaven avenues.

Police say that the men were arrested after one of the officers noticed the crack cocaine in the passenger side of the car. The men were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police say a sizable chunk of crack cocaine like the kind seized last night would usually be broken into smaller pieces and consumed in fingernail-size doses.

North Bellport is a hamlet in Suffolk County about 62 miles to the east of Manhattan.
