Man convicted in slayings of NJ family

JERSEY CITY However, the Hudson County jury acquitted Edward McDonald of murder in the deaths of the Jersey City couple and their two daughters.

The verdict rendered Thursday means jurors found McDonald responsible for the killings because they occurred during the commission of a felony, but determined he didn't kill the victims with his own hand.

Prosecutors said McDonald and an accomplice fatally stabbed the family in January 2005.

McDonald's alleged accomplice, Hamilton Sanchez, awaits trial.
