Police are trying to determine what caused a 24-year-old Columbia University graduate student who was killed by a car to flee into Manhattan traffic. Ming-Hui Yu was walking down Broadway between 121st and 122nd streets at about 9 p.m. Friday and had an altercation with two men. He fled across Broadway and was struck by a southbound vehicle.

Police say they are looking for suspects in the attack. Authorities previously thought the attack was an attempted robbery, but now do not believe that is the case. The driver of the car stayed at the scene and has not been charged.
