Orange police were chasing what they thought was a stolen car that crashed in Newark at the intersection of South 12th street and 9th Avenue. The chase began at the train station in Orange, and ended in Newark with a thundering crash.

Police witnessed a suspect believed to be stealing a car at the train station when the pursuit began.

It is not clear how fast a chase it was, but the car ended up in a residential area with a lot of children and adults on the streets at 9:30 this morning.

"Unfortunately at times I've seen everyone drive crazy, families with children in the car. I think it's a shame that it happened the way it did. We have to remember that could be anybody, it doesn't have to be a stolen car."

Police have been seen far away from the scene collecting evidence.

The driver of the car is the only reported injury.

No charges have been filed at this time.
