A piece of artillery, apparently misfired at the Picatinny Arsenal, crashed through the roof of a Morris County home 2 1/2 miles away.No one was injured when the 2-pound piece hit the Jefferson Township home Friday and landed on a young girl's bed. She wasn't home but her cat - which was sleeping on the bed - was injured and had to be euthanized.

The homeowner told authorities that she heard a loud noise around 2:40 p.m. and found the 6-inch by 4-inch object.

Picatinny officials told The Star-Ledger of Newark that they were investigating the incident. The base was conducting three kinds of tests Friday, and it wasn't immediately clear what type of artillery hit the home.
