Boy shot in North Bellport improves

BELLPORT Jeffrey Langhorn, 11, has been in critical condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center since early Monday afternoon, when he was hit by a stray bullet as he sat in his kitchen.

His condition improved overnight, and he was listed in stable condition on Thursday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Suffolk police believe the bullet that struck Jeffrey was aimed at his father by one of a group of men who fought with the elder Langhorn in the backyard.
