The condition of the North Bellport boy who survived a gunshot to the face early this week has improved, hospital officials said Thursday.Jeffrey Langhorn, 11, has been in critical condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center since early Monday afternoon, when he was hit by a stray bullet as he sat in his kitchen.

His condition improved overnight, and he was listed in stable condition on Thursday morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Suffolk police believe the bullet that struck Jeffrey was aimed at his father by one of a group of men who fought with the elder Langhorn in the backyard.
