Body in SI was beaten, stabbed, strangled

STATEN ISLAND Authorities say the victim, a Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s, was found wrapped in plastic and left on the side of the road outside 104 Housman Avenue, near the intersection of Gigi Street.

His body was reportedly dumped in a section of brush in an empty lot across from a lighting factory.

The death was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner's Office following an autopsy. His cause of death was blunt impact head trauma, asphyxia by neck compression and incised wound of neck with hemorrhage due to transection of left caritod artery and jugular vein.

Authorities are investigating and no arrests have been made.

Neighbors said the desolate street is a known dumping ground, and it was the third time in recent memory a body turned up in the neighborhood.
