The shooter told police that he and his girlfriend were accosted by another man, who forced them into the home. He then tied them up and ransacked the home, according to police.
The man who was tied up, however, apparently told detectives he noticed the robber left his gun behind. He was reportedly able to free himself and fire a shot through the back door, striking the suspect as he was fleeing the scene.
Police say they have recovered the gun and are questioning the shooter, who reportedly has prior arrests for criminal possession of a weapon.
Neighbors say they did not know the man who lived at the residence.
No arrests were immediately made.
