Fire investiagated as arson at Stevens

Threatening note was also discovered in dorm
The fire was set inside a fourth floor room of Davis Hall, a dorm building on campus, at around 4 a.m. this morning.

The multi-story residence hall was briefly evacuated as firefighters put out the blaze. The fire is believed to have been set and authorities are investigating.

Hours later, a threatening note was discovered in the community bathroom located on the same floor as the fire. School officials say it is possible the note is related to the fire. They would not discuss the contents of the note.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.

Students are being allowed in and out of Davis Hall with proper identification. None of the operations on the rest of the campus have been affected.

Davis Hall is named in honor of Harvey N. Davis, third president of the Institute.
