A woman was repeatedly stabbed by a man who later took his own life at a New Jersey mall Thursday. The incident happened in a parking lot at the Market Fair Mall in West Windsor.

Police say the 32-year-old man stabbed the 20-year-old woman inside the car shortly after they arrived around 4 p.m. When the car crashed, the woman tried to escape by running into a bookstore.

Police say the man stabbed her again before finally slitting his own throat.

Both were taken to Capital Health System's Fuld campus in Trenton, where the man was pronounced dead a short time later. The woman was reported to be in serious condition.

The cause of the attack is not yet known.
