On Long Island, a quick-thinking 11-year-old boy is labeled a hero for saving the lives of his mother and truck driver. Ryan Murphy and his mother Jackie were traveling south on Atlantic Avenue in East Rockaway, when they and a large truck suddenly got caught between a pair of railroad gates.

An eastbound Long Island Rail Road train was quickly approaching, and Ryan jumped into action.

Even though the truck got crushed from behind by the train, the cab was far enough out of the way to keep the driver safe.

Thanks to Ryan's quick thinking, no one was injured.
