A tractor-trailer carrying concrete crashed into a median on the Long Island Expressway in North Hills overnight, closing the highway for hours. The driver was reportedly heading westbound when his truck careened into the median near Exit 33 at around 12:30 a.m. this morning.

Eyewitness News is told the collision caused the tractor-trailer to catch fire and spill some of its concrete bags onto the roadway.

It took two hours to clear the eastbound lanes, and another three hours to reopen westbound lanes.

Officials say the driver was not injured. No summonses were immediately issued.
