Cars, motorcycles collide on I-287

Two cars and three motorcycles collided on Interstate 287 in South Plainfield in a crash that shut the northbound highway for more than four hours.Eyewitness News is told the vehicles crashed in the northbound lanes just before Exit 5, near Stelton Road, just after 11 p.m. last night. Seven people were injured.

One was rushed by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick in critical condition, officials say.

The northbound lanes were closed for more than four hours to investigate.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
