One of the suspects in the schoolyard slays of three Newark friends last summer has been sentenced to eight years in prison in an unrelated case.Jose Carranza was found guilty of aggravated assault and weapons charges in connection with a bar fight in West Orange in 2006.

A judge sentenced Carranza to two four-year consecutive terms for each of the victims he and two other men were accused of assaulting.
