Suspect in LES murder surrenders

LOWER EAST SIDE Police say 42-year-old William Davila surrendered last night at the 40th Precinct station house. He is being questioned by detectives and has requested an attorney.

He was wanted for questioning in the murder of 39-year-old Leonida Davila, who was found Tuesday night inside an SUV in a public parking garage on the Lower East Side.

"Her body was wrapped in blanket, handcuffed and placed in the front seat of a black SUV in a parking garage on Essex Street in Lower Manhattan," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said this morning in announcing the arrest.

Eyewitness News is told her throat had been cut.

Davila and her estranged husband had at least four previous domestic violence incident reports, officials say.
