Police chase and crash in New Jersey

NEW JERSEY The suspect was wanted for a home burglary in Woodbridge this morning.

He fled north on Routes 1 & 9, with Woodbridge police in pursuit.

The chase ended continued into Linden, where the suspect crashed his vehicle into a Woodbridge police cruiser as he approached the Goethals Bridge on Interstate 278.

The burglary suspect then jumped out of his smashed vehicle and ran away, with both Woodbridge and Linden police officers in foot pursuit.

He scaled a fence and ran into a residential neighborhood in the Bayway section.

Police officers eventually caught up with the suspect, taking him to the ground.

The man was placed in the custody of Woodbridge police. Charges against him are pending.

One Linden police officer injured his hand while climbing the fence. He was being treated at the scene.

A Woodbridge police officer was also being treated.
