A power outage plunged a large, 20 building Queens apartment complex in the dark for more than four hours overnight. The power apparently went out at the Rochdale Village co-op complex just after 1 a.m. this morning.

Eyewitness News is told the outage affected all 20 buildings in the complex, which has a power generator and supplies its own electricity. Power was being restored building by building.

The NYPD set up a command post and stayed until power was fully restored just after 5 a.m.

The complex houses roughly 23,000 residents in 5,680 units. Covering 122 blocks, it was the largest private cooperative housing complex in the world when it opened.
