Priest accused in church theft

NEW YORK District Attorney Janet DiFiore says the Rev. Patrick Dunne was arrested and arraigned Friday on a charge of grand larceny.

Dunne's attorney, Richard Ferrante, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The New York Archdiocese announced in March that Dunne took church money because of a "very powerful" gambling addiction. He was pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows in White Plains.

The theft occurred between 2002 and 2007 and involved the church building fund, the regular Sunday collection and a relief fund for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
