Alleged fake cop accused in kidnapping

LEVITTOWN Authorities say Christopher Mackrodt was charged with driving while intoxicated, criminal impersonation, kidnapping and multiple vehicle violations.

Police say the Levittown resident was carrying handcuffs and wearing a shirt with police patches. They say Mackrodt displayed a weapon - later found to be a BB gun.

The 39-year-old Farmingdale woman was reportedly driven around the Levittown area and finally delivered unharmed to the Yellow Cab Company. There, the suspect again identified himself as a policeman and instructed the dispatcher to give her a ride home.

Police say the dispatcher noted Mackrodt's vehicle and plate number and notified authorities. Mackrodt was pulled over on Ridge Lane and placed under arrest. A fake police-type shield, laptop computer and BB gun were recovered.
