Body found inside truck in Queens

QUEENS The body of a missing man was found in the back of the truck. The victim was shot several times. Eyewitness News has learned the he is the brother of a New York sheriff's deputy.

The body was found wrapped in a comforter in the truck on 79th Street in Ozone Park, Queens.

Grieving family members were overcome with emotion, learning of the discovery.

Emergency service officers were called to the scene. They popped open the hatch and made the grisly discovery. It took neighbors by surprise.

"All I heard is that someone is dead in the trunk of the car and he was murdered," one area resident said.

As dozens of detectives began pouring over the scene, collecting evidence and talking to neighbors, other family members and friends began arriving and huddling together for comfort, hoping to hear any new details.

Crime scene investigators were also working the scene.

Brandon Barret said he was about to get into his car when he noticed the flashy truck with expensive wheels.

"I just seen the rims and that's a new car on the block, so I just looked at it," he said. "It looked suspicious because I had never seen it. I've lived here for 13 years, I know every neighbor, so it's the first time I've seen this car."

Police are trying to determine if the victim was murdered somewhere else before the truck and the body were dumped on what neighbors say is a normally quiet street.
