NEW YORK -----SOAPBOX DERBY-----

The memories of your childhood soapbox derbies, transformed into a race for adults.

Joining us this morning are members from last year's team captain Dtephen Napoli.

a. Teams can apply online at www.redbullsoapboxusa.com
b. All driving machines must be entirely human-powered
c. Vehicles must be less than 6 ft. wide, under 20 ft. in length and no more than 7 ft. from the ground.
d. Crafts must weigh no more than 176 lbs (not including the driver).

Where AND WHEN is the event taking place?
Red Bull Soapbox Race Philadelphia will speed down "The Wall" in Manayunk, on September 6th.

What exactly is Red Bull soapbox RACE?
Not to be confused with the youth soapbox derby, Red Bull Soapbox Race is a national race for amateur drivers, which is fueled by creativity and competitive fun - not to mention the need for speed. This unique non-motorized racing event challenges both experienced racers and amateurs alike to design and build outrageous, human-powered Soapbox dream machines and compete against the clock in a downhill race.

What do the cars typically look like?
How much imagination do you have? Red Bull Soapbox cars range from realistic replicas to anything the imagination can conjure up. Past cars include a baby carriage, a rodeo clown, a massive cob of corn, a jail cell and of course, a tenacious taco. To gain more showmanship points, participants often wear outrageous costumes, act out skits, and create their own music soundtracks for the race.

How many Red Bull SOAPBOX RACES have BEEN produced?
Red Bull has produced more than 37 Soapbox Races around the world - from Australia to South Africa, Helsinki to St. Louis, and Jamaica to Italy. The first Red Bull Soapbox Race was held in Brussels in 2000. This year Red Bull Soapbox Race will also visit Cincinnati on October 4th and Denver on October 25th in addition to the Philadelphia stop.

What is the entrance fee?
There are still things in this world that are free! Free to the public and participants.

Can the original dimensions of the soap box differ from the information on the sketch/diagram?
Minimal deviations are not a problem, as long as the maximum permissible dimensions of the soapbox are not significantly exceeded.

What are the rules?
Teams will be judged on three criteria: speed, creativity and showmanship. All soapboxes must be human powered meaning no engines or external energy sources allowed. Prefabricated cars are not accepted. All vehicles must be less than six-feet wide, less than 20 feet in length and no more than seven feet from the ground. All cars must weigh no more than 176 lbs. (not including the driver). Drivers must be at least 18 years old.
